Q. What does KEMA stand for?

A.  KEMA is a Dutch acronym meaning:
Keuring Electrotechnisch Materieel Arnhem
KEMA started life in 1927 as the Dutch electricity industry’s Arnhem-based test house. Originally just an abbreviation of the company’s full Dutch name, the letters K-E-M-A have since come to stand for much more than the testing of electrical equipment.

Q. What is Accreditation?  What does it mean to have an accredited certificate?

A.  Accreditation Bodies are tasked with ensuring that Certification Bodies/Registrars are in compliance with the IAF Guidance Documents and other Sector Specific Requirements.  KEMA is accredited by ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).  KEMA is audited several times by ANAB every year.  The audits consist of office assessments and witness assessments of our auditors in the field for each of the certifications we offer. These accreditation assessments ensure that KEMA is operating in compliance with international guidelines established by the IAF.  The accreditation process increases the confidence of the certification business and the value of the certificates our clients earn.  

Q. What Accreditation does KEMA hold?

A. KEMA is accredited by ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).  KEMA is audited by ANAB yearly.  The audits consist of office assessments and witness assessments of our auditors in the field for each of the certifications we offer.

Q. What is the OASIS Database?
A. The Online Aerospace Supplier Information System (OASIS) is run by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) is now mandated by the Requirements for Certification/Registration of Aerospace Quality Systems (AIR5359). KEMA is required to enter the results of each AS audit into the OASIS Database.  This database enables OEM’s to verify the certification status of their suppliers.  The database provides information such as company contact information, dates of certification and results of registrar assessments.

Q. I recently had a certification or renewal audit.  When will I get my certificate?

A. We aim to send you your new or updated certificate within 45 days of the completion of the audit.  The audit report and supporting documents are first peer reviewed for technical content and then sent to a Certification Official for certification decision.  These steps have been put in place as quality checks and add to the integrity of our certificates.  Once the certification decision has been made, we will send you a draft of your certificate to review and the certification agreement.  We ask that you approve the draft and sign the certification agreement before the official certificate is released.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. Cancellation or schedule changes made by the client shall incur charges for changes to travel arrangements as well as cancellation fees per the chart below:

Q. Can you send me a copy of an ISO Standard?

A. All of the ISO Standards are protected against distribution by copyright legislation.   All ISO Standards are available for purchase at www.iso.org

Q. When will we be invoiced for audit activities?
A. KEMA will invoice clients  for Audit Fees and related travel and subsistence expenses at the conclusion of each scheduled audit event.  Payment Terms are Net 30 days.

Q. When are annual accreditation fees billed?

A.  Accreditation Fees will be invoiced separately at the time of certification and then in January of subsequent years as outlined on the quotation.

Q. How do I submit corrective action plans to KEMA?

A.  KEMA requests that corrective action plans are submitted to the office at reportseast@kema.com.  Our administrative staff will forward the plans submitted to your auditor for review and will alert you of their acceptance.

Q. If I have an complaint regarding KEMA or a KEMA certified company, what  should I do?

A.  KEMA requests that complaints be submitted in writing to the KEMA office.  KEMA will review the complaint and contact involved parties to work toward a resolution in a timely manner.
